A Youth Librarian position is available with the City of Fort Worth Library System at the Northwest Library. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, enthusiastic about bringing library services to young people in the community, and comfortable working with diverse populations including people of all ages, backgrounds, dispositions, and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications: - Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications: - At least two years of experience working in a library setting.
- Previous experience developing and presenting programs for children, teens, caregivers/parents.
- Ability to communicate with customers in Spanish.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work at/travel to various locations.
The Youth Librarian job responsibilities include: - Planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for children and teens and their parents/caregivers.
- Building relationships with residents and community organizations; Promoting library programs.
- Performing readers' advisory work; Researching and answering reference questions.
- Developing displays to showcase the Library’s collections, programs, and special events.
- Assisting customers with library technology; Teaching computer classes.
- Collaborating with the system youth services team to develop and evaluate programming.
- Serving as the Manager on Duty, when needed.
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
Physical Demand Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
