The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is seeking an Evidence Technician to assist with the storage, retention, and disposal of physical evidence.

Please Note: This position
DOES NOT involve forensic analysis or forensic investigations, but will instead focus on storing, managing, and preserving that evidence . **
About the RoleAs an Evidence Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper handling, storage, and disposition of evidence and property per department policies and legal requirements. You’ll work closely with law enforcement personnel to maintain accountability for stored items and ensure compliance with all regulations.
Work Schedule The schedule is subject to change for this position based on operational needs. During the first year of training, the schedule will align with the trainer’s hours: Typically a Monday through Friday 8am-5pm schedule. After completing the Training program, the technician would typically work during the normal week (Mon-Fri) but the hours may involve working early mornings or into the evening (early shiftlate shift). Additionally, scheduling adjustments may occur at any time due to coverage or staffing needs

- Ensure proper retention, disposal, or return of property and evidence.
- Assist patrol and investigations staff with physical evidence submissions.
- Monitor case dispositions and prepare required documentation.
- Testify in court and deliver evidence as needed.
Nonessential Functions- When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for the performance of the job.
Additional Information:This role involves
frequent physical activity and exposure to various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, and airborne particles. The position may also require the use of power tools, small motorized equipment, and occasional driving.
Qualifications- One (1) year of experience in a law enforcement agency setting; experience with evidence handling is preferred
- Previous experience in inventory management is preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required. Completion of additional education or training in investigative techniques or evidence handling is preferred.
- NCIC/CCIC certification within three (3) months of hire required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
