Join City of Ventura Information Technology Department as a Systems Analyst!
The Business Systems team seeks candidates with experience managing production enterprise-wide application systems, knowledge of and experience with software programming. SQL skills (query writing and data analysis), report writing with SSRS. Responsibilities include technical requirements definition, designing, and testing standards and solutions, defining application problems and evaluating procedures and processes.
This classification is flexibly staffed, and the position may be filled at either level depending on the qualifications of the incumbent and the staffing needs of the city
A New Opportunity and what you’ll do... Reporting to the Business Systems Supervisor, the Systems Analyst will support the Business Systems team and business users by leveraging expertise in enterprise applications (e.g., ERP implementation and support), Microsoft SQL Server, and programming languages.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with department leadership and end users to assess system usage and identify improvements.
- Leading user group meetings to gather feedback and enhance system adoption.
- Recommending business process improvements to optimize efficiency.
- Ensuring deployed solutions align with requirements and customer quality expectations.
Systems Analyst I/II candidates must be big-picture technology professionals who possess a clear understanding of how the components of business information systems work together. Analysts provide timely information to stakeholders so that accurate decisions can be reached. The ability to think critically about technical problems is essential in this role. The Systems Analyst functions both independently and collaboratively as a team player, developing strong relationships, and building trust and respect. Going above and beyond merely identifying issues, this analyst constantly reviews, diagnose, and correct issues with existing systems. The Systems Analyst must be able to communicate complex technical information clearly in conversational terms with a non-technical audience in both oral and written formats
Experience and Qualifications for Success!Systems Analyst I : A combination of training, education and experience equivalent to completion of high school and some college coursework in computer science, business administration, geography, or a related field and at least
one yearof experience in software application analysis, programming and implementation of enterprise or departmental business systems.
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, engineering or related field is highly desirable.
Systems Analyst II : In addition to the education and training described above, it requires
three yearsof increasingly responsible experience in application analysis, system design, programming and implementation of enterprise or departmental business systems.
Prior public agency experience is preferred.
License: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver license.
