DESCRIPTION

The City of Long Beach Health and Human Services Department has one (1) opening for a full-time Public Health Professional III to serve as the Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician in the Collective Impact Bureau.

Reporting to the Resource Connections Division Officer and working closely with both the Early Childhood Strategic Initiatives Program Manager (Community Program Specialist IV) and the Mental Health Program Manager (Public Health Professional III) this position will be responsible for the implementation and daily operations of the newly created Early Childhood Mental Health Program. This position will be responsible for the administrative duties related to the newly awarded grant that is making this program possible while also acting as a Field Instructor for Social Work interns who will provide mental health consultation to providers, parents and children. This position along with the team of MSW interns will provide mental health services in early childhood institutions such as preschools, daycares, and nurseries throughout the community, in neighborhoods that demonstrate the most need, due to lack of access to early childhood mental health consultation services and the most children demonstrating behavioral and mental health difficulties. In addition, this position will help inform the Early Childhood Strategic Initiatives Program on emerging mental health trends to inform the community workshops and sessions ECSI provides on topics such as early development, access to resources, self-care options and more, throughout Long Beach.
