This position will be located at the Northeast Regional Office, 1709 Prospect Drive, Macon, Missouri.
You will be joining the Land Unit of the Northeast Regional Office, where you will work to ensure the proper management and disposal of wastes within the Northeast Region. You will perform technical work implementing the Missouri Solid Waste Management Laws and Regulations; and the Missouri Hazardous Waste Management Law and Regulations to evaluate and determine environmental compliance and assist the general public and regulated entities.
- Schedule and conduct environmental inspections of hazardous waste generators in the Northeast Region.
- Schedule and conduct environmental inspections of permitted sanitary landfills, transfer stations, and infectious waste facilities in the Northeast Region.
- Schedule and conduct environmental inspections of scrap tire collection centers, scrap tire haulers, and scrap tire processors in the Northeast Region.
- Provide compliance and technical assistance to the regulated community and general public on hazardous and solid waste requirements, both in the office and onsite.
- Receive and enter citizen concerns regarding improper management and disposal of regulated wastes.
- Schedule and conduct investigations into citizen’s concerns regarding the improper management or disposal of regulated wastes.
- Conduct emergency response to situations that may require immediate action, including outside regular work hours.
- Prepare documentation (permits, reports, correspondence, photographs, data entry, forms) that is timely and accurate.
- Obtain certification as a landfill operator and obtain 40-hour Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- A bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience
- Preferred degree program would include the following: Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, Geology, Forestry, Soil Science, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Agriculture, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field.

Salary:
$45,072-$54,720 per Year
