Summer Inclusion Counselors
Description
Job SummaryThe Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is currently recruiting Summer Inclusion Counselors to work one-on-one with children with developmental and/or physical disabilities and provide support as they participate in summer camp programs.
Minimum Age: 21 years old (as of May 13, 2025)
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Camps run from June 16 to August 1, 2025, Monday - Friday. Counselors will work at one or more of the following camps. Hours vary by camp.
*There is no camp on June 19 and July 4. - Camp Escape (Drew Steele Center)
- Jamboree at South Greenville (South Greenville Gym)
- Eppes Day Camp
- Playground Camp and Greenfield Terrace
- Rec Plus (Boyd Lee Park)
All staff are expected to attend mandatory training on the dates listed below:
- May 13, 2025
- May 15, 2025
- May 20, 2025
- May 22, 2025
- May 29, 2025
Minimum Qualifications- 2 years of previous experience working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities, Special Education, adapted Physical Education, or Recreation. Recreation Therapy is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of: - promoting good conduct and acting as a role model for campers.
- presenting a mature professional demeanor.
Skilled in: - modifying activities and environments so campers with special needs can participate fully.
- providing personal care which may require lifting up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
Ability to: - maintain effective and courteous working relationships with campers, parents, employees, community organization partners, and the general public.
- understand and abide by Greenville Recreation and Parks Department policies and procedures.
- understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- monitor children in a pool setting for an extended period of time.
Special Requirements- Valid CPR, First Aid/AED certifications are required prior to the start of camp.
- North Carolina Intervention (NCI) Certification and Medication Administration Certification are preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license issued by N.C. or another state.
Regular part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees are not eligible for benefits.
