*This position is a field position and will require the ability to work in all weather conditions, including walking in rough terrain, driving in unfamiliar areas and physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.

The EPG GIS Analyst III is responsible for performing daily updates and maintenance on the digital geospatial ( GIS ) electric distribution model. The GIS model is critical to the safety posture of ESD as this model feeds ADMS for situational awareness as well as other downstream engineering systems and operational field systems.

This position:
-Performs field verification of energized electric distribution system for quality control of GIS data being developed and content accuracy.
-Creates red line updates in a electric distribution and network model
-Coordinates with designers, and field personnel to ensure accurate modeling of electric utility infrastructure
-Creates custom prints
-Manages GPS exports or imports of Trimble GPS unit
-Assists in Incident command during storm mode and may require storm assessment patrolling

Driving Requirement:
This position requires a valid Texas Class C Drivers’ License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. City of Austin employees that promote or transfer into driving required positions must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, internal applicants cannot have more than eight City Driver Points ( CDP ) within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Manages the creation catalog data for electric utility infrastructure to be used for model analysis by researching and collaborating with engineers, field personnel, and warehouse personnel. Manages the coordination with designers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure accurate and timely modeling of electric utility infrastructure. Manages and assigns programming activities such as design, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and modification of geospatial applications. Coordinates the research and interpretations of source records and documents. Manages the GIS business process analysis, alternatives development, and makes recommendations. Manages and assigns requests for information from internal and external customers. Manages the development of GIS analysis and mapping products based on user requirements. Manages the GIS upgrades including researching, testing, and implementing new geospatial technology. Organizes and leads meetings with members of the IT and user communities. Manages quality control to ensure that data being developed meets spatial and content accuracy for desired database. Coordinates all aspects of training for GIS products and software. Assists in incident command during storm mode.

Field positions:
Assists in incident command during storm mode and may require storm assessment or patrolling. Works around high, medium, and low voltage energized lines and equipment and performs troubleshooting of electrical systems using various test equipment. Determines work requirements for assignment based on reviewing job packets, which include blueprints (plan and profile views), material list, workorder and job summary. Attends refresher training to keep up with new technology.
