Job Description Basic Purpose This position functions under the direct supervision of the Administrative Program Manager of the Perinatal & Reproductive Health Division of the Maternal & Child Health Service. Primary responsibilities include interviewing families who have experienced a maternal death or severe maternal morbidity event and abstracting medical records as needed for the Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC).
Position Responsibilities The functions performed in this job family will vary by level, unit and organization, but may include the following
•
Working with the MMRC facilitator to identify cases eligible for family/key informant interviews
•
Collecting relevant qualitative information from family members regarding cases to be reviewed
•
Entering information into MMRIA database and ensuring accuracy and completeness of abstracted data.
•
Confidentiality Compliance: Adhering to all relevant laws and guidelines regarding patient privacy and data security, such as HIPAA.
•
Attending MMRC meetings and presenting case information and/or be available for questions from committee members
•
Being available to meet/talk with CDC staff when indicated
•
Providing input on the annual Maternal Health Report
•
Attending required Maternal & Child Health Service meetings
Education and Experience Requirements at this level consists of a valid Oklahoma license as a Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker through the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers, possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, or other similar professional licensure along with four years of related experience.
Preference given for experience providing trauma informed care, working with individuals experiencing trauma and grief, abstracting records, experience in labor & delivery, antenatal or postpartum care, and/or office prenatal care.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Knowledge of professional nursing or social work theory, and/or related practices, and techniques; of the philosophy and objectives of the Maternal Health programs; and of the principles and practices of effective management. Ability to plan and implement programs; to develop controls to monitor effectiveness of programs; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; communicate compassionately with individuals experiencing trauma and grief; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of the job, employees are frequently required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position. Combination of office, vehicle, and homes. Travel may include traveling during inclement weather.
