We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Stagecoach Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for history and a love for working with horses. As a Stagecoach Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers along predetermined routes, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring the overall maintenance and care of the stagecoach and horses. Starting Pay - $16.50 hour For more details, review the full job details and requirements below. The Stagecoach Driver is an experienced horse handler, assisting with stagecoach rides and providing care of horses and other livestock, including sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens. They drive teams of horses to provide daily rides and perform farmwork using 1860s methods. This position also facilitates educational programming with visitors and school groups, requiring period appropriate costumes.
Key Responsibilities - Drives horse drawn stagecoaches to provide rides for school groups, events, and daily visitors.
- Provides daily care for the site draft horses, including feeding, mucking, basic health care, and training; provides daily care for site livestock, including sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, and cattle.
- Interacts with site guests and provides a welcoming environment for educational and historical programming.
- Uses draft animals to farm using 1860s methods.
Qualifications Experience: Experience handling horses and driving horses is required. Experience handling and caring for small livestock is preferred. Experience with groups of children in an educational, museum, or tour setting preferred.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be 18 years old or older.
Licenses & Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license with favorable driving record.
Language: Proficiency with verbal and written English language required. Additional proficiency with Spanish and American Sign Language preferred.
Environmental or Physical Demands : Works outside in rain, heat, cold and snow. This position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, walk on uneven surfaces, and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions.
