As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the CMO will work collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Quality & Experience Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and other organizational leaders to advance a shared vision for San Mateo Medical Center. Together, this team will ensure the effective integration of clinical, operational, financial, quality, and patient experience priorities to deliver outstanding care to the community.

- Five years of progressively responsible leadership experience overseeing provider services in increasingly complex, high-level roles.
- A strong understanding of healthcare administration, including trends in healthcare policy, treatment, research, education, licensing, and accreditation.
- An understanding of the complexities of public healthcare systems, including the need to innovate, exceed quality standards and benchmarks, collaborate with partner hospitals and clinics to ensure continuity of care, integrate services with the County’s other health-related programs and departments, and balance clinical needs with operational efficiency.
- The ability to thrive in a collaborative leadership environment focused on developing and sustaining a healthcare delivery system that serves the most underserved populations in the community.
- A results-oriented approach to healthcare delivery that prioritizes outcomes for all clients while breaking down disciplinary and service line silos.
- Knowledge of Lean/LEAP leadership philosophy and improvement methodologies and their application in a healthcare environment.
- A commitment to continuous learning and leadership development, with a willingness to embrace new leadership techniques and contribute to building a principle-based leadership culture at San Mateo Medical Center.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, including the ability to receive information appropriate to their level of leadership and effectively translate it into meaningful messages for those they support.
- Experience working with organized labor and within civil service environments, preferably in a public-sector healthcare setting.
Responsibilities

- Maintain quality and safe patient care services by planning and developing programs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, licensing requirements, accreditation standards, and evidence-based practices.
- Serve as administrative liaison for medical providers with the Medical Center's governing body, medical staff, management, and other clinical leaders in the hospital's decision-making structure and process.
- Provide support, mentorship and coaching to the Medical Directors of Primary Care, Specialty Care and Acute Behavioral Health.
- Engage and maintain a network of community medical provider leadership to promote collaboration across entities.
