Deputy Sheriff Opportunity

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office is seeking candidates for the role of Deputy Sheriff. This position involves serving as a Bailiff in Superior Courts, supervising prisoners awaiting court, providing extra security for high-risk trials, and working entrance screening positions. Other assignments may be deemed necessary by supervisory personnel for the effective deliverance of court security.

The position requires knowledge of law enforcement principles and practices, criminal law, and the ability to secure information from witnesses and suspects, write clear reports, demonstrate physical endurance, understand instructions, make independent decisions, work with sensitive information, and operate a motor vehicle.

To qualify, candidates must have successfully completed a California POST certified basic law enforcement academy and one year of full-time experience as a sworn peace officer with a California law enforcement agency, or have successfully completed the California POST requalification course within the last three years. Additional requirements include graduation from high school or passage of a high school level GED test, physical and mental abilities required by the department, a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate, a valid California Driver's License, and be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
