Job Description
Under supervision performs specialized office work of moderate difficulty; performs related work as assigned.
Typical duties include:
- Receiving, reviewing, processing and distributing confidential and sensitivedocuments
- Processing documents related to misdemeanor, felony, and civil cases
- Updating electronic records
- Researching records and disbursing information
- Recording and documenting court proceedings
- Receiving and processing payments, fees, or bonds
- Compiling reports and summaries of work
- Scheduling, gathering materials and preparing agendas for various court hearings
- Issuing search or fugitive warrants, and generating warrants and orders to show cause
- Notifying attorneys regarding continuances
- Composing, formatting and typing correspondence, reports and other documents
- Answering incoming phone calls
- Assisting other agencies with information and explaining procedures
- Orienting and training other staff
- Preparing and maintaining accounting and other records
- Handling and accounting for cash in various amounts
Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: walking; sitting; lifting and carrying (1-50 lbs) of files supplies and mail; pushing/pulling carts, doors, filing cabinets (1-50 lbs); climbing stairs; working with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder) for telephone, typing filing, etc.; vision acuity (near and far) for writing, typing and dealing with staff and the public; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity for typing, writing, filing, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in clerical work; OR any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Must pass fingerprint clearance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of: Justice Court terms and meanings, Office practices and procedures, Rules and procedures of department, including state and federal law, Word processing, spread sheets and other computer applications, Business English, spelling and arithmetic. Skill in: The operation and maintenance of a variety of office equipment, Customer service, Researching and problem solving. Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public, Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety, Follow written and verbal instructions, Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, Type and perform data entry accurately, Prepare and maintain complex records and reports.
