This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, State Historic Preservation Division.Geographic Notation: This position's current geographic location is on Oahu. Non-citizens with unrestricted employment authorization from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service may also apply.Recommended QualificationsKnowledge of:Must be familiar with State and Federal burial and historic preservation laws, rules and regulations; Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 92; the Hawaii Sunshine Law; Microsoft Office; and interactive conference technology platforms.Skills/Abilities to:Must be able to interpret and apply laws and regulations; work with Native Hawaiian organizations and individuals; and work with minimal supervision.Recommended Education:A bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Preference given to candidates with coursework in Hawaiian Studies, Ethnic Studies with a focus on Hawaii, Anthropology, or a related field.Recommended Experience:At least one (1) year of experience in any of the following areas: working with government boards and commissions, historic preservation offices, or Native Hawaiian organizations.Substitutions Allowed:Excess work experience as described below may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis provided that the knowledge, skills, and abilities are comparable to those acquired in four years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level, and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.License Requirement:Applicants must possess a valid license, type 3 or higher, to drive in the State of Hawaii.Quality of Experience:Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position.
