Overview

At WakeMed, our Police Officers play a critical role in keeping our campuses safe, welcoming, and secure for patients, visitors, and teammates. You'll combine traditional law enforcement responsibilities with a service-first mindset in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

What You'll Do

  • Patrol WakeMed property to protect patients, visitors, staff, and facilities while enforcing applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Respond to criminal and non-criminal calls for service, assess situations quickly, and take appropriate action to reduce risk and maintain safety.
  • Detain, arrest, and process criminal violations that occur on WakeMed property, completing all required reports, citations, and documentation.
  • Assist with patient transport and subject control when individuals pose a risk to themselves or others, following North Carolina commitment procedures.
  • Support investigations using WakeMed CCTV systems and operate departmental vehicles in compliance with state law and policy.
