Career OpportunitiesPOSITION SUMMARYInvestigates complaints and mediates solutions to complaints. Educates consumers and businesses on consumer protection issues.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESReceives and handles consumer complaints in person and on the telephone.Answers telephone inquiries, advises consumers and data enters complaints in computer.Gathers information for Director for educational and consumer programs.Monitors consumer programs in the media; works with other agencies; and assists with displays and consumer education efforts as assigned.Prepares input to weekly “Troubleshooter” column.Maintains daily and monthly reports, assists in mailing information to the consumer and prepares information to be used in exhibits.Gives occasional speeches to public groups.Personally investigates on-site consumer complaints as assigned.Represents the Director at meetings and conferences in his/her absence.Operates office equipment such as personal computer, facsimile machine and copier.May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well-established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time by training on the job.
