Summary
Adult Services LibrarianPRIMARY DUTIES:Library ProgramsDevelop, coordinate, provide, and promote relevant and innovative library programs for adults. Provide programs directly, such as book club meetings, lectures, concerts, workshops, film screenings, and crafting events.Reference and Readers' AdvisoryProvide reference services by awareness and use of local and remote resources, conduct reference interviews, and do research. Direct patrons to library materials and resources that match their interests and abilities. Compile book lists, bibliographies, and other wayfinding resources. Instruct patrons in the use of library media and resources and assist with technical questions.Supervise Staffing in the Adult Services DepartmentTrain, schedule, assign and supervise work activities of department staff and volunteers; review work; perform annual evaluations and recommend commendations or improvement plans; respond to and resolve employee complaints. Perform all duties of department assistants as needed. Ensure uniform compliance with library policy and procedures.Collection DevelopmentDevelop and manage the department's collection of library materials in all formats. Order new materials on a consistent schedule and within department budget. Select outdated or worn materials to be discarded or replaced. Recommend broad collection additions and/or changes to the Library Director.FiscalProvide recommendations related to budget for program area. May develop grants or other funding for special projects and increased services. Maintain records and monitor expenditures for compliance with requirements of approved budget, grants, gifts, and donations.TechnicalServe as technical liaison for library staff, Chemeketa Cooperative technical staff, and private-sector technical contractors to coordinate the library's in-house technology needs with the Chemeketa Cooperative. Support staff with technical needs.
