ABOUT THIS POSITION:
We are pursuing qualified candidates to fill the Chief Physician II position within the Department of Public Health. Incumbents in these positions are licensed physicians who direct the programs and activities of a large medical organization.

Essential Job Functions
What will I do as a Chief Physician II?
- Formulates or assists in formulating overall policies and in planning and directing programs and activities of a medical organization.
- Has responsibility for or supports the administrative aspects of the organization's activities. These include budget preparation and control, personnel functions, and procurement of equipment and supplies. The role also involves coordinating work with medical or other organizational units.
- Assigns, trains, and evaluates medical and related personnel.
- Directs or assists in directing the training of interns, resident physicians and medical and technical students in the work of the organization.
- Directs the establishment, improvement, or revision of the medical work or procedure of the organization to improve the level of care and service or the utilization of personnel.
- Plans, directs and supervises medical research and the presentation and review of findings.
- Reviews care prescribed by staff physicians, resident physicians, and interns and reviews other work performed for the organization.
- Confers with consultants regarding care of patients and medical and diagnostic work performed, and coordinates the work of consulting physicians with the work of the organization.
- Confers with other County institutions, public and private agencies, and medical schools.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
A Master's Degree* in Public Health from an accredited school of Public Health and two (2) years of medical administrative experience** in a public health agency in adult health, maternal and child health, or preventable disease control -AND- Certification by an American Specialty Board in a Specialty*** related to the required medical administrative experience**.
One additional year of the required experience may be substituted for the Master's Degree*.
LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATE(S) REQUIRED:
1. A California State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California.
- Applicants who have the required California State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California MUST attach a legible copy of the certificate to the application at the time of filing or within fifteen (15) calendar days of application submission to [email protected] . or your application may be rejected as incomplete.
- The required license and/or certificate must be active and unrestricted or your application will not be accepted.
2. A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS: Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This assessment type will evaluate the experience you list on a questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system worth 100% of your total score.
This part of the assessment is worth 100% of your total score and assesses: Requirements and Desirable Qualification .
Applicants must receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to be added to the Eligible List .
Passing this examination and being added to the Eligible List does not guarantee an offer of employment.
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the Department of Public Health as they occur.
AVAILABLE SHIFT:
Any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
