The mission of the Culver City Fire Department is to protect life, property, and the environment by providing prompt and professional fire protection and life safety services.

The following job duties are associated with Community Service Officer's assigned to the Fire Department:

• Provide public assistance on the telephone and at the public counter to developers, architects, and property owners by providing information related to procedures and policies for fire prevention permits and hazardous materials.
  
• Performs annual multi-unit residential inspections.
  
• Performs general custodial duties at fire facilities and on City vehicles as well as routine mechanical maintenance; disposes of recyclable materials and assists in picking up identified hazardous waste; and distributes supplies.
  
• Accept and review fire and building and plan check applications and maintain a log of application submittal. Operate a computer terminal to input and retrieve departmental information.
  
• Prepare numeric and other required reports such as public records requests, fire incident report requests, memos, correspondence, proclamations and documents in connection with annual Fire Prevention Week and Fire Service Day, quarterly occupancy reports to the Battalion Chiefs and dispatch.
  

Schedule: Regular part-time position working approximately 35 hours per week. Schedules may vary depending on the needs of the department.

Minimum Requirements: Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skill and ability would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skill and ability would be: A high school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license, if required to drive.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES

Suitability for position will be evaluated by an application review. This evaluation will be qualifying. Those deemed qualified will be invited to the Oral Appraisal Interview. The Oral Appraisal Interview will evaluate training, experience, and personal qualifications.

$21.20 - $23.43 Hourly
