Overview

The Marina General Manager is responsible for managing the 24/7/365 operations of the Marina that oversees leases of boat tenants and restaurants. This position will assist with writing draft city ordinances related to water/marina items. Help formulate new ideas to increase marina tenants and tourism. Under general direction, the Marina General Manager is responsible for the management/supervision and operation of the Corpus Christi municipal marina inducing programs, staff, budget, and facilities. Position will attend the following but is not limited to, monthly Water, Shore, and Beach Advisory Committee and Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee; may need to attend City Council Meetings as requested.

Responsibilities

• Plans and organizes key staff for daily/weekly operations

• Works with dockmaster to monitor and ensure tasks are performed and goals set internally and by city leadership are achieved

• Oversees personnel policies, procedures, progressive discipline and monitors/resolve track budget

• Meets with employees regarding performance and disciplinary matters

• Assists office staff with contracts for water and land-based leases

• Tracks daily/weekly operational issues

• Evaluates marina equipment for replacement

• Supervises staff, programs, and facilities training

• Responds to calls for information from internal and external and citizens/tenant complaints

• Monitors staff operation of boar haul out facility

• Developments and budgets for annual marketing plan

• Prepares advertisement for local and national media sources

• Works with city attorneys and the park directors to negotiate leases with large restaurants and develops of property

• Approves marina permits, sidewalk vendor carts, and annual water vendor leases

• Updates hurricane preparedness for the marina and lease holders each year

• Meets with key individuals Federal, State, and County, local officials to plan/coordinate to goals, services, security

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Exempt - Full-Time

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)

• Five (5) Years of experience

Certifications, Licenses or other requirements

Required

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Preferred

• Bachelor's Degree in Business and/or Parks and Recreation

• Experience in Marina Management/Business Management

• Captains license

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
