Performs warehousing and clerical duties for Property and Evidence, including preserving, transporting, processing, documenting, and disposing of various types of sensitive and restricted evidence. Maintains chain of custody and organizes evidence within the warehouse by lifting, moving, and storing items of various sizes. Transports evidence to and from substations and crime labs, maintains the facility's cleanliness, and verifies contents during property purges. Some tasks require applying some specialized knowledge and interpreting relevant ordinances and regulations. Performs established procedures under the direction of the Police Evidence Supervisor and is reviewed through ongoing oversight, spot checks, and discussions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Police Services Specialist I: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years of clerical experience, preferably in law enforcement or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Warehousing or Labor experience preferred. Must be able to operate personal computers and Microsoft Office programs. Must be comfortable climbing ladders and using a work lift. The position operates on a rotational schedule and requires call-out availability.
Police Services Specialist II: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and four (4) years of clerical experience, preferably in law enforcement or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Warehousing or Labor experience preferred. Must be able to operate personal computers and Microsoft Office programs. Must be comfortable climbing ladders and using a work lift. Some positions may require typing proficiency. The position operates on a rotational schedule and requires call-out availability.
Valid Driver's License required. Must pass police background check which includes polygraph (polygraph required with the exception of current OPD employees).

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
Salary:
USD 21.09 - 26.90 per hour
