Job Description:

Purpose:

This position is responsible for authorizing issuing airport identification access media in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)-approved Airport Security Program and other applicable regulations. This includes maintaining and protecting sensitive and confidential information; evaluating and providing airport access requests; and verifying the validity, authenticity, and acceptability of government-issued identification documents prior to badge issuance.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Reviews applications for Unescorted Access ID/Media, documents, and other supporting information to determine an applicant’s eligibility for airport-issued identification access media. Evaluates various applications for accuracy, completeness, required training documentation, and appropriateness of requests. Accesses confidential and security-sensitive information utilizing the access control system, and exercises independent decision-making to determine validity of applications and supporting documentation. Ensures accuracy of Personal Identifiable Information entered into the automated access control system and other access control databases. Captures biometric (fingerprints) of applicants to ensure the content and quality are acceptable for CHRC and enrollment in the access control system. Ensures a current Security Threat Assessment approval is received from TSA prior to issuing security access media and notifies tenants and other employers that applicants are approved for badge issuance. Oversees security training and maintains security training records. Instructs applicants in the proper use and application of various security access media. Collects fees for badging or keying services and reconciles and reports Austin Bergstrom International Airport revenue collected to the Finance division. Maintains the security and confidentiality of the sensitive security information and data contained in the access control office; and stores and protects records in accordance with Federal regulations, COA Aviation policies and procedures, and Texas retention laws. Creates, issues, activates, and deactivates lock and key access for various areas of the airport; maintains key control databases. Resolves customer inquiries received in-person, by phone, and electronically in a timely manner. Exhibits quality service in support of the AUS mission and brand while interacting with a variety of internal and external customers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years administrative and customer service experience which included data entry and working in a highly regulated detail-oriented environment.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Valid Texas Class C Driver License.

Notes to Candidate:

This position will serve as Trusted Agent of Airport in verifying identity documents, fingerprinting and collecting accompanying biographical information, submitting documents to initiate TSA Security Threat Assessment and FBI Criminal History Records Check, data entry, building and managing user profiles with Airport’s automated access control system, assigning access credentials and access levels, conducting security audits, cutting and issuing keys, pinning lock cores, facilitating security training and performing various customer service duties.

Work Hours:

Monday - Friday


Shift may change according to departmental needs; work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work.

Salary:

$23.76 - $28.69/ hr.

Driver License:

This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA. Successful candidate must be in possession of a Texas driver's license as authorized by the Texas Transportation Code. A driving record verification will be conducted. Applicants for positions for which City driving is an essential function must meet the standards of the program: age 18 or older, current applicable driver’s license, proof of insurability and no more than six (6) points assessed on Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) based on Department of Public Safety's (DPS) Driver Record Report. Driving on City business: This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and individual may be required to drive own personal vehicle or City vehicle. Successful candidate must be in possession of a Texas driver’s license as authorized by the Texas Transportation Code. A driving record verification will be conducted.
