Due to critical shortage in recruitment, an additional 10% of Critical Shortage bonus shall apply to monthly salary of those employees who are appointed full time to non-surgical podiatry assignments. A 20% of Critical Shortage bonus shall apply to the monthly salary of those employees who are appointed full time to surgical podiatry assignments. Critical Shortage bonuses are subject to ongoing review and may be modified or discontinued at any time based on departmental need and funding availability .

MISSION:

DEFINITION: Provides professional medical and surgical podiatric services to patients with conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and related structures.
Essential Job Functions
- Diagnoses, treats, or prescribes treatment of the foot, ankle, and other related structures using medical histories, physical examinations, x-rays, and laboratory test results.
- Performs foot, ankle, and related structure surgeries within the scope of practice.
- Maintains varied hours on rotation schedule with other podiatrists to ensure that a podiatrist is always on-call during non-business hours.
- Consults with inter-professional team on the care of patients.
- Prescribes medications, corrective devices, physical therapy, or surgery; sets fractures.
- Administers medications and local anesthetics.
- Records all diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions.
- Refers patients to other physicians or specialists for consultation in an inter-professional manner.
- Advises patients about treatments and foot care techniques to prevent future problems.
- Conducts training or assists in the training of residents.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you need to possess both of the below requirements at the time of filing your applicatio n :
- A Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree* conferred by a podiatric medical school that is both accredited by the Council of Podiatric Medical Education and approved by the Medical Board of California's Board of Podiatric Medicine.
- AND -
- Successful completion of a post- graduate podiatric medical and surgical training program** approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education.
* To receive credit for your education, include a legible copy of your official diploma, official transcript, or letter/certificate from an accredited institution within 7 days of filing your application. The document should show the date the degree was conferred and be in English. For more information on our standards for educational documents, please visit the Council on Podiatric Medical Education and/or Podiatric Medical Board of California .
** To demonstrate completion of the required post-graduate program, include a certificate of completion or official letter from the Council of Podiatric Medical Education, which shows your area of specialization.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT :
Still working on obtaining a California State license to practice the full scope of podiatric medicine issued by the California State Board of Podiatric Medicine of the California Medical Board? No worries! You can still apply and may even receive a contingent job offer while completing the process. Throughout the process, we’ll confirm that you either have your license or are actively pursuing it. OUR ASSESSMENT PROCESS : This is a non-competitive examination. This examination is intended to merely qualify applicants. Applicants will be placed on an eligible register without indication of relative standing in the examination.
NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY SIX (6) MONTHS.
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION :
Applicants who qualify for this position will be placed on the list for a period of 6 months and will need to meet the requirements within that timeframe.
Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly for 6 months.
Applicants will be placed on a list of eligible candidates without indication of relative standing in the examination. The appointing power may appoint any one of the names on the appropriate list, except a person without Veterans credit may not be appointed if there are three or more names on the list of persons entitled to Veteran’s credit.
