Requirements

Requirements to Qualify:

Option I: One year of clerical experience in bookkeeping, assisting in the maintenance of a double-entry accounting system and associated subsidiary records involving coding transactions and posting and balancing of ledgers, journals, and registers.

- OR -

Option II: One year of clerical experience in maintaining financial or statistical records involving coding, recording, checking tabulations, and computation of data, and completion of a high school or higher-level course* in bookkeeping or elementary accounting.

*To qualify under Option II, include a legible copy of all relevant official documents, including your transcript demonstrating completion of the required coursework. The document should show the number of units (if applicable), the title of the course completed, and be in English. If not in English, then translation is required. International coursework must be evaluated for equivalency to US standards. Documents marked as unofficial will not be accepted. Withhold Information:

Physical Class:
Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Examination Content:
This examination will consist of TWO (2) parts:

Part I: Multiple-choice and/or simulation assessment(s), weighted 50%, assessing:


Part II: Multiple choice and/or simulation assessment(s), weighted 50%, assessing:


Applicants may be invited to participate in both Part I and Part II. However, only those who meet the Requirements to Qualify and receive a passing score of 70% or higher in Part I will have Part II scored.

Applicants must meet the requirements and receive a passing score of 70% or higher on each part of the multiple-choice and/or simulation assessment in order to be placed on the eligible list.

Exam Review:
Some exam components are not subject to review by candidates. Multiple-choice and simulation assessments are not reviewable by candidates per CSR 7.19.

Test Preparation:
We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test, we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.


Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list for a period of six (6) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies throughout Los Angeles County, as they occur.
