The Public Health Services Division of the Health and Social Services Division is currently recruiting for a Public Health Nutritionist to work within the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Division of the Nutrition Services Program.In the
Public Health Services Division, we provide people with the tools they need to maintain and improve their health. The services we provide are incredibly diverse and include such activities as conducting public health nurse home visits for moms and babies, providing medical care in our clinics, and much more. The Public Health Nutrition Services Program emphasizes community-wide health promotion and disease prevention. Nutrition Services staff develop systems that address nutrition needs throughout the life cycle. Nutrition Services staff are advocates for the needs of vulnerable groups, particularly low-income women in their child-bearing years, young children, and individuals with acute or chronic diseases. A broad range of nutrition interventions and activities are provided.
The WIC program provides client-centered nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy food and linkages to health care and other important community resources. The program provides assistance to low-income pregnant women, mothers with infants, infants and young children to eat well, be active, and stay healthy.
THE POSITION As an experienced Public Health Nutritionist, through the WIC program, you will provide nutritional consultative services with clients; plan, coordinate and implement nutrition education services by providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to children and youth with eating disorders. The position will also provide in-person counseling to clients with eating disorders who receive service through the Behavioral Health Division. Additionally, as a Public Health Nutritionist you will also provide MNT to clients under care in Family Health Services for treatment for chronic diseases.
Click here to view the Public Health Nutritionist Job Description POSITION REQUIREMENTS Experience: One year working as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university, in nutrition or dietetics. A Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or Public Health or related field is desirable.
Special requirements:Incumbent must possess certification as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4), MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE FINAL FILING DEADLINE.
