General Description:

Performs moderately complex legal work for the Texas Ethics Commission (¿Commission¿) related to Texas Ethics Commission meetings, APA rule making, and general administrative projects. Primary duties include: drafting, editing and coordinating documentation related to Commission meetings, serving as liaison to the Texas Register, and serving as backup to the Public Information Coordinator. Work involves communicating with the Texas Register, as well as receiving, reviewing, revising, and tracking agency rules throughout the rule making process

Work may require researching and interpreting laws and regulations, advisory opinions, and other legal precedents and examining, preparing, and drafting legal documents. Work may also require analysis of legislation during legislative sessions.

Work is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment under the direction of the Executive Director and General Counsel. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, the willingness to learn new skills, and a passion to further the mission of the Texas Ethics Commission. Employees in this role are typically required to handle confidential and sensitive information and may correspond with executives at other state agencies, members of the legislature, or other high-level contacts.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION: The selected candidate will be paid monthly based on the salary and the work schedule agreed upon with the selected candidate.
