This position is a member of our
Air Permits Division. HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING- Review extremely advanced and/or high-profile air permit applications (i.e., projects), ensuring high-quality work and completing the required quantity of projects within established timeframes. Conduct a comprehensive technical review for projects to include defining all sources of contaminants, applying appropriate federal and state requirements, reviewing emission calculations, drafting permit documents, and completing technical review summaries. Prepare public notice authorizations and completes associated tasks.
- Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects.
- Provide highly technical support for the team, section and agency on the application of policies and procedures related to the air permitting program.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS- Experience communicating, written and verbally, with senior leadership.
- Experience preparing and conducting presentations and training.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCETexas Professional Engineer's license plus five years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure.
Qualifying work experience that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
ORCareer ladder progression - One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer V.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work ScheduleStandard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the
TCEQ Austin Headquarters Office.
