Essential Job Duties Position Summary Performs advanced (senior-level) applications development and platform engineering work. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Employees at this level may fully perform highly complex programming work and may:
- Design, develop, configure, and support enterprise applications, workflows, integrations, and platform capabilities.
- Analyze technical and business requirements and implement scalable, maintainable solutions that align with organizational objectives and platform standards.
- Evaluate platform performance and system functionality, identify opportunities for automation and optimization, and implement continuous improvements that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
The ServiceNow Developer supports, enhances, and scales our ServiceNow platform across IT Service Management (ITSM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Telecommunications Service Management (TSM), Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD), and future enterprise service management capabilities. This role will play a key part in platform development, systems integration, process automation, data governance, and ongoing platform operations.
The ServiceNow Developer partners closely with product owners, business analysts, developers, architects, vendor partners, and stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain high-quality ServiceNow solutions. This position will help establish technical standards, support platform governance, and ensure reliable delivery of scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions across the ServiceNow ecosystem. The position reports to the IT Operations and ServiceNow Program Director.
- Designs, develops, configures, and maintains scalable ServiceNow applications and platform capabilities across IT Service Management (ITSM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), and other enterprise service management solutions; Delivers maintainable, upgrade-safe solutions aligned with platform standards and organizational requirements.
- Develops and supports custom applications, workflows, and user-facing solutions using ServiceNow App Engine, Flow Designer, Service Portal, Employee Center, UI Builder, and related technologies. Build and maintain Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, and automation logic to support business processes.
- Designs, develops, and maintains integrations between ServiceNow and internal or external systems using REST, SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID Server, APIs, and related technologies. Ensure end-to-end data integrity, synchronization reliability, and performance of integrated data flows across enterprise systems.
- Ensures accuracy, consistency, and lifecycle governance of configuration and asset data across ServiceNow modules, including CMDB, HAM, SAM (as adopted), and related datasets; supports normalization, reconciliation, data quality management, and alignment with enterprise configuration and asset management standards.
- Supports the implementation, configuration, and enhancement of ServiceNow platform capabilities as the organization expands into additional modules such as Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD), Software Asset Management (SAM), Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Security Operations, and Telecommunications Service Management; ensures consistent application of platform standards across all modules.
- Provides ongoing operational support for the ServiceNow platform, including troubleshooting, performance optimization, upgrades, patching, cloning, and environment management; Owns resolution of defects and production issues related to developed solutions, ensuring platform stability and reliability.
- Collaborates with architects, business analysts, product owners, and implementation partners to translate requirements into scalable technical designs; Contributes to development standards, code reviews, documentation practices, and governance processes; shares knowledge with other developers and support continuous improvement of platform development practices.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Additional work-related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis (High School diploma or equivalent required).
Experience and Training Required- Five (5) years of experience developing, configuring, and supporting ServiceNow solutions in enterprise environments
- Strong experience with ServiceNow IT Service Management (ITSM) development and administration
- Experience developing custom applications, workflows, and platform solutions using App Engine, Flow Designer, and related ServiceNow technologies
- Experience designing and supporting integrations using REST APIs, SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID Servers, and related integration technologies
- Experience supporting ServiceNow platform implementations, upgrades, enhancements, or migrations
- Experience troubleshooting production issues, optimizing platform performance, and supporting release management activities
Preferred Qualifications Experience and Training Preferred- Experience with Hardware Asset Management (HAM), CMDB, Telecommunications Service Management (TSM), or telecom inventory management solutions
- Experience supporting Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD), Software Asset Management (SAM), Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Security Operations, or related ServiceNow modules
- ServiceNow certifications such as Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Application Developer (CAD), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), or other relevant ServiceNow certifications
- Experience working in multi-team, enterprise-scale, or federated ServiceNow environments
- Experience implementing platform governance, development standards, and release management processes
- ITIL Foundation certification
- Agile/Scrum certifications
