Position/Program Information

TYPE OF RECRUITMENT: OPEN COMPETITIVE - EMERGENCY

The LA County Board of Supervisors has unanimously ratified a Proclamation of Local Emergency in response to the windstorms and wildfires , including the Palisades and Eaton Fires, that have devastated communities across the County. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to assist the County in mobilizing resources and support needed to help our residents recover and rebuild. The Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Program Manager IIvacancies related to this unprecedented natural disaster.

Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Program Manager II.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

OPTION I: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree* -AND- Three years of experience in a general administrative staff capacity** analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems of organization, systems and procedures, programs, facilities planning, budget or personnel. One year of the experience must have been directly responsible for the implementation of program goals.

A Master's degree* or higher from an accredited graduate school will be accepted for one year of the experience.

OPTION II: One year of experience in the County of Los Angeles as a Program Manager I***.

LICENSE:

A valid California Class C Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions.

Successful applicants for positions that require driving must provide verification of their driver license and a copy of their driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles before final appointment. Applicants should not present a copy of their driving history until asked to do so by the hiring department. The County will make an individualized assessment of whether an applicant's driving history has a direct or adverse relationship with the specific duties of the job. License must not be currently suspended, restricted, or revoked.

You MUST meet the requirement(s) in order to be appointed to fill any vacancies related to this recruitment.

PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class 2 - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

**G eneral administrative staff capacity is defined as: Assisting management by performing research, analysis and making recommendations on use of personnel, allocation of funds, workload and workload fluctuations, and programs and procedures for accomplishing departmental objectives.

*** To qualify, applicants must have County status as a Program Manager I evidenced by holding such payroll title in the County of Los Angeles for the required period of time. No out-of-class experience will be accepted.

EXAM CONTENT:
During your initial work period, the appointing department will evaluate your performance. Those who achieve a passing score on this evaluation will be considered for permanent appointment.
