Work Location: 1520 W. 9th St.
Schedule: Sunday-Saturday, hours may vary

Responsibilities

What you'll do
- Patrols the park areas by vehicle, on foot, bicycle, and ATV to assist visitors, protect park resources, and ensure safe use of park facilities.
- Enforces park rules, city ordinances, and traffic regulations by checking permits, issuing General Ordinance Summons (GOS) and Uniform Traffic Tickets (UTT), and removing individuals or vehicles when required to protect public safety.
- Educate the public on park rules, proper facility use, and protection of natural resources to promote safe, respectful park environments.
- Manage access and safety by locking and unlocking gates, closing hazardous roads, placing barricades, and providing traffic and crowd control during events or unsafe conditions.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies by requesting assistance from law enforcement, fire, medical, towing, or rescue services and obtaining emergency aid when illness, injury, or danger to life occurs.
- Document incidents, patrol activity, damages, accidents, and enforcement actions through accurate reports and communicate safety, health, or environmental hazards to the Park Ranger Supervisor.

Qualifications

REQUIRES - High school or GED equivalency and 2 years of armed security experience.
- Must be eligible to obtain a Class A private officer's commission as issued by the KCMO Police Department.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and be eligible to obtain and maintain a Class A private officer security license as issued by the Kansas City Police Department (must obtain within 6 months).
- Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical, and psychological evaluation as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
