Water Department - Meter Field ServicesLocation: 1720 Wabash Avenue
Pay: $22.21-$34.48 per hour
Schedule: During training: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; after training: Workdays and hours may vary

Responsibilities

What you'll do
- Turn water service valves on and off and install or exchange water meters to ensure accurate service delivery and billing
- Inspect meters, curb boxes, and related equipment for leaks or malfunctions and address issues before they escalate
- Use maps, drawings, and field tools to locate, dig up, clean out, or access curb boxes and meter vaults safely and efficiently
- Complete assigned work orders received in writing or by radio, managing your daily route independently
- Interact with customers professionally and courteously, addressing questions or concerns while representing the Water Department positively

Qualifications
REQUIRES high school graduation and 6 months experience in general construction, maintenance, or repair work. Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Class A, B, or C issued by the State of Missouri prior to the end of the employee's probationary period (appropriate CDL will be determined by the department). Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post-pffer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
