Airport Operations Trainee (Municipal Management Trainee)

Aviation Department - Airport Operations Division Location: 1 Kansas City Blvd
Pay starting at: $22.521 per hour
Schedule: Rotating Shifts, Assigned based on operational needs

Responsibilities
- Patrols airfield runways, taxiways, and aprons to ensure FAR 139, 77, 150 compliance.
- Inspect for the presence of hazards such as improperly working lights, out-of-compliance pavement markings and signs, FOD, broken pavement, debris, fuel or oil spillage, or ice or snow on airfield and prepares self-inspection report and work requests
- Patrols airfield for presence of wildlife, using frightening and/or harassment techniques do disperse wildlife hazards, and removes and identifies dead wildlife from movement areas
- Conducts perimeter inspections to ensure fence line and posts are properly secured in support of the airport security program
- Provides Airport Operations Area escorts for contractors, and aircraft operator tenants for relocation of aircraft as needed.
- Inspects fuel farms, fueling equipment, and fueling operations to ensure NFPA 407 standards are adhered to.
- Staffs the snow desk during winter weather events, supports the snow and ice control plan and issues NOTAMs as needed
- Prepares aircraft RON reports
- Explains airport rules and regulations to pilots, tenants and employees, issues AOA violations as necessary
- Conducts SIDA, Movement and non-Movement training and Movement area Practical exams
- Performs terminal and landside inspections, and responds to medical calls to monitor traffic and liability issues
Qualifications
REQUIRES
- Accredited Bachelor's degree
- Ability to pass a background check as prescribed by the City
- Ability to pass a 10-year TSA Background Check
- Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain MCI Issued AOA Movement Area Badge with driving privileges

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
