Position DescriptionEmployees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician.
Major/Essential FunctionsAdvanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Pediatric Hospital Medicine team. In this role, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality, family-centered care to acutely ill children. From managing common childhood illnesses to coordinating care for complex medical conditions, you will act as a clinical leader in the pediatric inpatient setting, ensuring every patient receives evidence-based treatment in a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Management: Conduct comprehensive physical exams, develop differential diagnoses, and implement treatment plans for pediatric patients admitted to the hospital.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with attending physicians, sub-specialists, nursing staff, and social workers to coordinate seamless transitions and discharges.
- Diagnostics: Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging).
- Patient Advocacy: Provide education and support to patients and their families, ensuring they are active participants in the plan of care.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in hospital committees, peer reviews, and clinical research to improve pediatric outcomes and safety.
Required QualificationsGraduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
