Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for ensuring smooth operation of the front clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may be responsible for cash.
Major/Essential Functions- Serves patients by answering routine questions and maintaining electronic records and accounts.
- Manage daily workflows and assigned tasks.
- Verify insurance coverage and update demographics and insurance as needed.
- Document workflow within a patient's chart.
- Provide communication to patients in the event of any issues with insurance authorization.
- Explain estimated costs, financial responsibilities, and available payment options (e.g., payment plans, financial assistance).
- Obtain pre-approvals for medical services/procedures, and manage related documentation.
- Resolve denied insurance claims by investigating reasons (ex., incorrect info, authorization issues, or benefit gaps) and contacting payers/patients.
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent. 3 years Customer Service, office or related experience, with 2 of those years in a healthcare or dental clinic setting preferred. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
