TITLE: Engineering Technician I or II

SRN A31: $6,988 - $9,581, Monthly, Non-Exempt

SRN A35: $7,637 - $10,497, Monthly, Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

Division: Development Services

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to : Director of Engineering

Supervises the following positions : N/A

Promotional opportunity procedures will include the following: Review of minimum qualifications Review of personnel file, including but not limited: attendance history, disciplinary history, and performance evaluations Testing/ Assessments Oral Interview(s)

DEFINITION: Under immediate (Engineering Technician I) to general (Engineering Technician II) supervision, performs a diverse range of technical engineering tasks; conducts technical review and plan checking for land development projects; performs computer aided drafting (CAD) tasks; processes utility clearances, right of way documents and permits; updates and maintains survey, and geographic information system (GIS) data; performs a variety of customer related services; and performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education : Associate degree in engineering, construction management, land survey, land use planning, public administration, business administration, or a related field.

Experience :

Engineering Technician I - One (1) year of experience performing technical work in land development, construction, surveying, engineering, right-of-way, or a related field.
Engineering Technician II - Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience performing technical work in land development, construction, surveying, engineering, right-of-way, or a related field.

Licenses and Certifications : Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
