Position DescriptionMake a Difference in your Community! The City of Fresno hiring for temporary clerical positions and invites you to be part of a dynamic team in providing excellent customer service and critical support to our departments. The City of Fresno is continuously seeking energetic hard-working individuals to assist and enhance the various functions and services our City provides.
Work schedules vary according to department operations and needs.
Pursuant to City of Fresno Charter, temporary employment shall not exceed 2,080 hours within 2 fiscal years; and may not exceed 29 working hours per week or if working up to 40 hours per week may not exceed 120 days. The City may also utilize this recruitment to fill limited, non-permanent assignments consistent with Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-256 (a) (2).
These are temporary employment opportunities which do not provide health benefits, or retirement and are not in any way a guarantee of permanent employment.
Selection Process All applications will remain active for a minimum of six months and may be reviewed and considered for temporary opportunities.
The selected candidates certified will be required to successfully pass a Department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint prior to employment with the City of Fresno.
Eligibles certified for consideration to the Police, Fire or Airports Departments must successfully pass an extensive background investigation which may include a Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) and/or polygraph test, and a department interview prior to employment.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required at time of appointment for some assignments. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.

Supplemental InformationClerical Assignments: such as; filing, data entry and other typical office duties.
Customer Service Assignments: receptionist, working with the public, and other duties associated with serving the public.
Information Services Assignments: computer work; such as deployment of computers, basic troubleshooting, or other technical related duties.
Labor Assignments: performing light and heavy manual labor for extended periods and under adverse weather conditions. Safely operate light equipment and various hand tools.
