Job Description:

Human Resources Coordinator

Purpose:

Under minimal direction, coordinates and administers human resources (HR) functions for a smaller City department with little or no staff, or limited HR staff, or serves multiple City departments or external agencies.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.


Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to job, plus five (5) years of related HR experience, including year (1) of experience in a lead/supervisory capacity. Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.

About the position:

This position will serve as the primary point of coordination for Human Resources-related functions within Austin Homeless Strategies and Operations. Key responsibilities include managing recruitment and hiring for new and vacant positions, onboarding of staff, and coordinating with the City’s Human Resources Department to ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures. The position will also advise managers on employee relations matters, support performance management processes, assist with workforce planning, and help develop internal Human Resources processes to support a growing department. These responsibilities require knowledge of Human Resources policies and practices and involve independent judgment in interpreting and applying City Human Resources guidelines.

Salary Range: $80,490.00 to $102,200.00 annually

Location: 505 Barton Springs Road, Austin, TX 78704

Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM

Hours may vary depending on departmental needs and initiatives. Some evening, weekend and holiday work may be required. Some Telework may be permitted.
