Job Description
Duties

You will direct the overall performance of the branch, holding full administrative and technical responsibility for planning, directing, and controlling all inspection work performed within the Machine Repair, Ship Fitting, Metals, and Foundry shops.

You will serve as the lead technical authority on the techniques, practices, and equipment capabilities for the branch's inspection and non-destructive testing operations.

You will provide authoritative consultation to senior management on production quality matters.

You will develop and manage the long-range schedule for all work performed within the branch, using input from Program Management, Production, and Engineering.

You will analyze and resolve conflicts concerning work packages and project schedules.

You will review and analyze production problems and quality discrepancies.

You will recommend or institute corrective actions, develop new operating instructions, and establish enhanced standards of quality.

You will lead a team of quality assurance specialists as well as plan and assign work, set priorities, evaluate performance, make hiring decisions, and provide technical guidance and instruction to subordinates.

You will perform other duties as assigned.

Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (or GS-11 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public applying quality assurance principles and inspection techniques in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or production environment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
